Joint forces arrest 11 terrorists along with arms

KHULNA, March 30, 2025 (BSS) - A joint forces team arrested 11 notorious terrorists including gang leader Sheikh Palash after trading fire at Arambag area in the city in the early hours today.

Some joint forces members were injured during the clash, Md Ahsan Habib, additional deputy commissioner (Media) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) said.

The team also seized arms and ammunitions including three pistols, one shotgun, one gun (Kata Banduk), bullets, one Chinese axe, one chapati and seven motorcycles from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint forces team comprised of Navy and police conducted the drives at the residence of Abdur Rahman at Arambag area under Sonadanga police station around 12.40 am.

The terrorists suddenly fired targeting the members of law enforcement agencies sensing their presence that forced the joint force to retaliate and fire on the criminals.

The joint forces team arrested 11 terrorists in injured conditions after four hours drive, he said,

The arrested criminals were identified as gang leader Sheikh Palash, 30, Md Ariful, 27, Rubel Islam alias Kala Lavlu, 30, Fazle Rabbi Razon, 26, Mohammad Lion Sharif, 30, Imranuzzaman, 33, Ripon, 38, Imran, 35, Saikat Rahman, 27, Mohidul Islam, 35, and Golam Rabbani, 26. All criminals hailed from the city's different area.

The arrested criminals were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) while the injured police were admitted to Khulna police hospital and navy men were admitted at Navy hospital, he added.

Gang leader Palash is a listed terrorist of KMP, he said, adding that the arrested criminals are accused in a number of criminal cases filed with different police stations in Khulna.
