Father, daughter among three killed in separate road accidents in Bogura

BOGURA, March 31, 2025 (BSS) – Three people including father and daughter were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in the district today.
 
The deceased were Shariful Islam (32) and his minor daughter Sejda (3) and Alok Sarker (20) of Sherpur Upazila of the district.
 
According to locals, Shariful and his daughter Sejda were crossing the Dhaka-Bogura Highway from the west to the east side on a motorcycle in the Mahipur Jamtala area of Sherpur upazila around 2.15pm when a Dhaka-bound bus hit them. As the locals rushed them to nearby hospital with serious injuries, the duty doctor declared them dead.
 
Besides, Alok Sarker and his two friends- Joyanta Sarker (20) and Shuvo Sarker (19) – were traveling to the tourist spot on the bank of the Jamuna River in Sirajganj on a motorcycle. Around 12.30pm, by losing control, their motorcycle hit a tree near Jhumunia Bridge at Bishalpur Union in Sherpur upazila leaving them seriously injured.
 
When locals took them to the Sherpur Upazila Health Complex, the duty doctor declared Alok dead while Joyanta was transferred to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College for better treatment. Shuvo is now undergoing treatment at the Sherpur Upazila Health Complex.
 
Moreover, at around 12:30 pm today, a Dhaka-bound bus collided head-on with a private car coming from the opposite direction in front of the Mahipur Fire Service on the highway. The front part of the private car was twisted and the two passengers of the car- Md Likhon (28) and Md Jibon (30)- were injured.
 
Fire service members rescued them and sent them to the Upazila Health Complex.
 
Sherpur Highway Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Khalek and Sherpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Rabiul Islam confirmed the accidents and said they have already taken legal actions regarding the accidents.
