2 motorcyclists killed in Rangpur road accident

RANGPUR, April 1, 2025 (BSS) - Two teenage motorcyclists were killed and two others injured in a road accident at around 2:30 pm on Tuesday in Taxerhat area of Badarganj upazila of the district.

“The deceased were Ashik, 16, son of Ibrahim Mia of village Pakarmatha Dhontola and Nayeem Hossain, 14, son of Momin Hossain of village Pathanerhat in the same upazila,” Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Badarganj police station AKM Atiqur Rahman told BSS.

Quoting eye witnesses, the OC said that four young motorcyclists riding on two separate motorcycles were speeding in Taxerhat area of the upazila. There was a battery-powered charger van in front of them.

“The two motorcycle-riders were talking while driving side by side. As they lost control over the bike and hit the back of the van, they fell on the road. One of them died on the spot,” he said.

Another seriously injured person was taken to Badarganj Upazila Health Complex, where the duty doctor declared him dead.

Two other riders named Ripon (16) and Liptan (15) of the same area were injured in the incident and rushed to the local hospital.

“The process of handing over the bodies of the deceased to their respective families is underway,” the OC said, adding that no case was filed in this connection till 5:30 pm.
