Amusement centres bustling with presence of people

RAJSHAHI, April 2, 2025 (BSS) – Amusement spots especially on the banks of the river Padma are bustling with the presence of people of all ages as Rajshahi people are still celebrating Eid ignoring heat.

Although the city wore a deserted look with no traffic jams in the streets today due to Eid holidays, city dwellers were seen visiting their relatives and friends for exchanging pleasantries and greetings.

People attired in new dresses and shoes were busy with frequent roaming for their choice of destinations, including relatives and friends’ places as a sense of security and safety returned following strict security measures taken by law enforcement agencies.

Thousands of people, especially children, poured in and around the city's parks, historic places and other recreation centres to enjoy and celebrate the festival.

Central Park and Zoo, Zia Shishu Park, Varendra Research Museum, BGB Amusement Point, Vadra Park, Padma Garden and Borokuthi amusement point drew huge crowds.

The Central Park and Zoo, the largest amusement spot in Rajshahi metropolis, has got a new look after massive development and beautification works over the years and collection of more beasts and animals for the zoo.

Padma River bank adjacent to the Saheb Bazar area of the city has also turned into an attractive tourist and recreational spot.

Talking to BSS visitor Nargish Akhter said he is enjoying the overall atmosphere of the park as there is no panic and anxiety.

On the other hand, the main jamaat of Eid-ul-Fitr was held on Shah Makhdum Central Eidgah Maidan in the city at 8:00 am on Monday, the Eid day.

Mawlana Kawsar Hossain Khatib of Rajarhata Jame Mosque conducted the jamaat.

Two big Eid congregations were held at Tikapara Eidgah at 7:30 am and 8:30 am respectively. Another largest Eid-jamaat was held at Shaheb Bazar Zero Point at 8:15 am.

Political leaders, high government officials along with a large number of people offered their prayers at the main Eid jamaat.

Eid-jamaat of Rajshahi University was held at its central jamme mosque at 8:00 am. Eid-prayers for female devotees were arranged separately for the first time.

Eid-congregation of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology was held at its central mosque at 7:00 am.

Eid-jamaats were held at Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital campus, Rajshahi Court Eidgah, Rajshahi Stadium, Shalbagan Eidgah, New Market Jame Mosque, Police Line Math, Upashahar Eidgah Maidan and Rajarhata Jame Mosque.

Over 150 Eid jamaats were held at the traditional and temporary venues in the Rajshahi metropolis.
