KHULNA, April  2, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court in Khulna today fined four transport companies of Tk 22,000 for overcharging passengers and not displaying ticket price lists.

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) led by Executive Magistrate Mesbah Uddin conducted the drive at Royal intersection in the city.

The mobile court fined Tk 10,000 to Tungipara Express for overcharging passengers during selling tickets, Tk 2,000 to M R Paribahan for not having a ticket price list, Tk 5,000 to Saudia Paribahan for selling tickets for one route but operating buses on another.

In addition, the magistrate of the mobile court, Mezbah Uddin, personally bought a ticket from Baleshwar Paribahan hiding his identity. The company was found charging Tk 1,400 instead of Tk 1,266 for a ticket on the Khulna-Chattogram route through the Padma Bridge.

As a result, Baleshwar Paribahan was fined Tk 5,000 for overcharging passengers.

The magistrate told journalists that transport companies often increase ticket prices before and after Eid. To prevent this malpractice, the ongoing operation will continue.
