MANIKGANJ, June 8, 2025 (BSS) – A motorcycle rider was killed in a head- on collision with a passenger bus on the flyover at Pancho Rasta in Ghior upazila of the district today.

The deceased was Maulana Shirajul Islam Sheikh, 42 son of Md. Thandu Sheikh of village Char Gobindopur under Daulatpur Upazila of the district. He was the teacher of Uchutia dakhil Madrasa under Manikganj Sadar upazila.
 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ghior Police Station Rafiqul Islam said the accident occurred at about 1 pm on the Pancho Rasta flyover, when a Manikganj bound passenger bus of Shwadhinata Paribahan collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, leaving the motorcycle rider dead on the spot.
  
Police rushed to the place of occurrence immediately after the accident and recovered the body. Police also seized the bus, but the driver managed to flee away.
