Two killed, four injured in Khulna road accident

KHULNA, June 9, 2025 (BSS) - Two people were killed and four others injured in a road accident in the Darogar Leese area on the west side of the Khanjahan Ali Bridge here in the city this morning.

The incident occurred when a battery-run easy bike carrying passengers collided head-on with a speeding truck coming from Bagerhat, police and local sources said.

All six passengers on the easy bike were injured. 

Locals quickly rushed them to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), where the attending doctor declared two dead-Rafiqul Islam, 56, the easy bike driver and Tanzil, 12, a passenger. 

The four others are currently undergoing treatment at KMCH.

Sub-inspector Md Abdur Rahim, in-charge of Labonchara Police Camp, said the victims had arrived in Khulna from Chandpur by bus and were on their way to a relative's house. After getting off the bus at Rupsha, they took an easy bike that was reportedly driving in the wrong direction on the road when it was hit by the truck.

Following the collision, all passengers, including the driver, were thrown onto the street. Police and local people responded immediately to the scene.

The bodies of the deceased have been kept at the KMCH morgue.
