COX'S BAZAR, June 9, 2025 (BSS) - A man and his son died today after being swept away while swimming at Kolatoli Point of Cox's Bazar beach.

Police said the victims - Shahinur Rahman, 60, and his 20-year-old son Sifat - had travelled to the popular tourist destination from Rajshahi for the Eid vacation.

Sea Safe Lifeguard activist Saifullah Sifat told BSS that the two entered the water but were caught in a strong current and eventually swept away by the waves.

"On-duty lifeguards managed to pull them out and rushed them to the hospital. However, both started vomiting large amounts of blood after being taken to the hospital and died shortly afterwards," he said.

Officer-in-Charge of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Ilias Khan said the bodies have been kept at the morgue of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.
