NATORE, June 14, 2025 (BSS) - Advocate Farzana Sharmin Putul, Special Assistant to the BNP Chairperson's Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee and a member of the party's media cell, accused ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina of establishing "mafia rule" and authoritarianism over the past 17 years in the country.

"Awami League government had oppressed the people, destroyed democratic institutions, and imposed one-party rule," she told an Eid reunion today, organized by the Bagatipara Upazila and Municipal BNP and its associate bodies.

She said, "If BNP comes to power, we will build a new Bangladesh with the guidance of Tarique Rahman".

Putul also expressed gratitude that, after 17 years, the BNP could once again play its party anthem.

She paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the July uprising, including the injured, saying, "Their sacrifices had made it possible to hear the anthem in Bangladesh again."

Earlier, Kamrun Nahar Shirin, wife of late Lalpur-Bagatipara MP and minister Fazlur Rahman Patal, addressed the rally virtually.

She urged party members to support Putul as the BNP's candidate in the next parliamentary elections.

The event was chaired by former Bagatipara Upazila BNP convener Mosharraf Hossain, with the presence of other BNP leaders, including district BNP member Hafizur Rahman and former joint convener Hamidur Rahman Babu, among others.
