Boy drowns in Tangail

TANGAIL, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) - A nine years old boy drowned in the Bairan River at Char Shimla village of Nagada Shimla union in Gopalpur upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased was Loknath, son of Ranjit, a resident of Char Shimla village. 

Loknath drowned in the river around 1 pm near their house while taking bath with other children.

A diving team from Tangail conducted a rescue operation and recovered the child's body from the river. 

Station Officer-in-Charge of Gopalpur Fire Service Md. Khadimuzzaman confirmed the matter.
