2 children among 3 drown in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) —Three people, including two children drowned in     ponds and water bodies in Panchagarh Sadar and Atwari upazilas today.

The deceased were identified as Abdullah Alim Adnan,   6,   of Futkipara area in Harivasa union, Munni Ara,  14,  a student of class 8 in Chuchuli Pateshwari of Balorampur union and Mohan Chandra Roy,  4, a resident of Araji Mandalhat in the same union.

According to police and locals, Munni Ara drowned while bathing with her friend in a pond near her house. The girls, who could not swim, went into deep water. Munni was rushed to Boda Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared her dead.

In separate incident, four-year-old Mohan Chandra Roy slipped into a pond near his house while playing alone. He was found floating and was also declared dead after rushed to Boda Upazila Health Complex.
In another incident, six-year-old Adnan    went missing when  his uncle left him inside the house. Adnan later went outside in search of his uncle and he  was later found in an unconscious state  in a nearby pond and taken to Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.

Dr Sadman Shakib of Boda Upazila Health Complex confirmed that both Munni and Mohan had died before bringing to the hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Atwari Police Station Rafiqul Islam Sarkar and OC of Sadar Police Station Abdullah Hill Zaman confirmed the deaths.
