KHULNA, June 15, 2025 (BSS) - A Khulna court today sent former officer-in-charge (OC) of Khulna Sadar police station, Hasan Al Mamun, to jail in connection with a case.

Md. Sharif Hossain Haider, Judge of the Khulna Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court, ordered Mamun's imprisonment after rejecting his bail plea.

Earlier, Hasan Al Mamun appeared before the court seeking bail in a case filed by former Khulna City BNP Organising Secretary Fakhrul Alam at Khulna Sadar Police Station.

Army and navy personnel were deployed on the court premises to maintain law and order.

When contacted, Public Prosecutor (PP) AKM Shahidul Alam revealed that the High Court had previously granted bail to Hasan Al Mamun.

Following the higher court's directive, Mamun appeared before the Metropolitan Sessions Court around noon and applied for bail. The court subsequently rejected the bail and sent him to jail.

The prosecutor added that the court had issued three summonses to Hasan Al Mamun in connection with the case, but he failed to appear each time.

According to court sources, on January 5, 2022, police baton-charged a BNP rally in front of the party office on KD Ghosh Road, Khulna city. The then OC, Hasan Al Mamun, allegedly beat Fakhrul Alam, causing permanent vision loss in one of his eyes.

Fakhrul Alam filed the case against Mamun on August 19, 2024, accusing him of torture and attempted murder.
