Bodies of two missing children recovered in Sherpur

SHERPUR June 18, 2025 (BSS) - The bodies of two minor girls, reported missing since Tuesday noon, were recovered from a pond at a remote fish farm in the Battala Mridabari area of Sribardi upazila in the district this morning.

The deceased were identified as Swapna Khatun, 6, daughter of auto rickshaw driver Swapan Mia and Sakal Akhter, 7, daughter of brick mason Selim Mia, residents of the same area.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.

Earlier, the children went missing at noon on Tuesday. Later, despite extensive searches locally, the family members could not find them.

Locals found the floating bodies in a fish farm pond at Battala Mridabari area at 8 am and informed police.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sribardi Police Station Md. Anwar Zahid said "We are taking the incident seriously and investigating. Further legal action is underway."
