KCC formed 3 mobile teams to remove waterlogging

KHULNA, June 19, 2025 (BSS)- Khulna City Corporation (KCC) on Wednesday afternoon formed three mobile teams to remove waterlogging in the city, aiming to take necessary steps to identify the causes of waterlogging in some areas.

The decision was made in a meeting at the GIZ auditorium in the KCC building with chief engineer Moshiuzzaman Khan in the chair.

As per the direction by the KCC Administrator, Md Firoz Sarkar, to take immediate steps to remove waterlogging in the low-lying areas in the city, the meeting was attended by the officers and employees of the departments of conservancy and civil engineering.

A seven members mobile team formed for wards no-1 to 15, headed by assistant secretary engineer Md Obaidullah Khan, the second mobile team formed with seven members team headed by deputy sub-assistant engineer Amit Kanti Ghosh for wards no-22, 23 and 29, and the third mobile team formed with seven members committee headed by sub assistant engineer Sheikh Nazrul Islam for the ward no- 27, 28, 30 and 31.

Besides, Executive Engineer Sheikh Md Masud Karim and Conservancy Officer Md Waheduzzaman Khan will be responsible as key coordinators of the mobile teams. 

The meeting asked the mobile teams to take necessary steps after being present at the waterlogging areas with manpower and equipment.

The meeting also asked to discuss water logging causes and to advise on its solution through a WhatsApp group among them. 

It further asked to observe if any barrier has been formed to remove water after completing construction of the existing drainage works, side by side, to watch the sluice gates for smooth water waves.

The chief engineer urged the city dwellers to cooperate with KCC field-level officers to give necessary information to KCC monitoring teams.

Among others, KCC architect Rezbin Khanam, Conservancy Officer Waheduzzaman Khan, Consultant of KCC and representative of KUET Abir Hasan Noyan, attended the meeting.
