MAGURA, June 19, 2025 (BSS) - A three-day National Fruit Fair has begun in the district with the theme of "Eat more local fruits, plant more fruit trees."

Deputy Commissioner Md. Ohidul Islam inaugurated the fair as the chief guest this morning on Magura Sadar Upazila Parishad premises.

The fair was jointly organized by the District Administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).

Deputy Director of DAE Md. Tajul Islam presided over the function. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abdul Kader delivered the welcome speech.

Speakers highlighted the nutritional values of local fruits, their role in environmental conservation, and the importance of encouraging farmers to cultivate more fruits.

They emphasized that locally-grown fruits not only meet nutritional needs but also contribute to the country's economy.

The fair will continue until June 21. Six stalls have been set up showcasing different varieties of local fruits, including mangoes, jackfruits, litchi, guavas, and pineapples.

Agricultural officials are also providing advice on fruit cultivation techniques, sapling production, and plantation methods.

The fairground has become lively with the participation of people from various walks of life, including students and farmers. Organizers hope that this event will boost the cultivation and popularity of indigenous fruits.
