DINAJPUR, June 19, 2025 (BSS) – A three-day National Fruit Fair began in the district with the theme "Eat more local fruits, plant more fruit trees."

Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam inaugurated the fair as the chief guest this afternoon at Gor-a-Shahid Boro Maidan in the district.

The fair was organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).

After the inauguration of the fair, the Deputy Commissioner, other department heads and guests visited various stalls. 

Chief guest Rafiqul Islam said the national fruit fair is organized to encourage everyone to eat formalin-free local fruits. He urged everyone to eat fresh local fruits. 

Deputy Director of DAE Md. Afzal Hossain presided over the function. 

Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Local Government Department Md. Riaz Uddin, Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Md. Mushfiqur Rahman, Project Director of the Sustainable Agriculture Development Project in Dinajpur Region Abureza Md. Asaduzzaman, president of the district BNP Advocate Md. Mofazzal Hossain Dulal, district Jamaat Ameer Principal Md. Anisur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Jute Seed Farm Dr. Md. Sultanul Alam were present, among others.

Dinajpur Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Asaduzzaman delivered the welcome speech at the beginning of the program. 

Maskura Khatun, IT Officer of the Horticulture Center, presented the improved variety fruit cultivation project developed by the Agriculture Department through PowerPoint. 

The program was presented by Assistant Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Md. Khurshid Hasan and Lutfun Nahar.
