GAIBANDHA, June 20, 2025 (BSS) - A three-day National Fruit Fair began on the premises of Sadullapur Upazila Parishad in the district with a call to boost the production of local fruits to meet the nation's nutritional demands.

The Upazila Agriculture Office, under the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), organized the fair to encourage large-scale cultivation of indigenous fruits.

This year's theme is: "Eat More Local Fruits, Plant More Fruit Trees."

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Anik Islam inaugurated the fair on Thursday afternoon as the chief guest, while Upazila Agriculture Officer Matiul Alam presided over the inaugural ceremony and delivered the welcome speech.

In his address, UNO Mohammad Anik urged people to consume more local fruits and to cultivate fruit trees on a wider scale to enhance nutrition and self-sufficiency.

Around 50 stalls have been set up at the fair, drawing enthusiastic visitors from all walks of life. Attendees were seen engaging with stall owners and showing keen interest in the diverse variety of fruits on display.
