52 char families get solar home systems in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Aug 8, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 52 poor and underprivileged char families of Saghata upazila in the district received solar home systems today from SKS Foundation under a project titled Lighting Poor and Disadvantaged Families Living in Char Areas, funded by ANDHERI HILFE.

The distribution event was held at SKS Resource Center in Bharatkhali around 10 am, with Saghata UNO Al-Kamah Tamal attending as chief guest.

Local officials and project personnel were present at the event.

Project Manager Hasina Parvin said the initiative, launched on January 1, 2025, aims to provide solar lighting to char households while also involving residents in income-generating activities.

So far, 271 poor char families of the upazila have been brought under the solar coverage through the project, she added.
