KHULNA, Sept 20, 2025 (BSS) - Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) on Saturday
launched eviction drives on city footpaths to ensure smooth movement of
pedestrians

A KMP team, led by Sudarshan Kumar Roy, Deputy Police Commissioner (South),
evicted temporary shops and signboards from footpaths in the busiest areas of
the city from 10.00 am to 3.00pm today.

The footpaths from Shibbari to Dawkbangla Mor-Picture Palace Intersection to
Helatola Mor via Sadar Thana Mor.

Sudarshan Kumar Roy, Deputy Police Commissioner (South), said that due to the
installation of signboards and temporary shops on the footpaths, pedestrians
are forced to walk on the road, which creates traffic congestion and the risk
of accidents.

To improve this situation, the eviction drive was carried out jointly by the
KMP's Traffic Department and local police station.

The main goal of this eviction was to completely free up the sidewalks for
the movement of the common people, he said, adding that the eviction drives
will continue on the busy footpaths as well.
