MADARIPUR, Sept 21, 2025 (BSS) - A 2-year-old girl drowned in a pond at Sikdarkandi village of Kathalbari union under Shibchar upazila of the district this afternoon.

The deceased was Ayesha daughter of Abu Bakar Howlader of the same area. 

The child fell into the pond near the house while playing without knowledge of the family members and drowned. Later, the girl was rescued and took her to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared her dead. 

Shibchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Rakibul Islam confirmed the matter.
