NARSINGDI, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS) - Narsingdi District Unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami today demanded a ban on the Jatiya Party and the 14-Party Alliance for supporting the unlawful activities of the fascist Awami regime and taking a stand against the Mass Uprising 2024.

The party also demanded holding of a free, fair, and credible national election in February based on the July National Charter, aligning with its central programme.

The demands were made in a memorandum signed by District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Moslehuddin and District Secretary-General Amjad Hossain.

After holding a rally at the Shikkha Chattar in Narsingdi Sadar Upazila this morning, several hundred leaders and activists marched to the Deputy Commissioner's office and submitted the memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Anwar Hossain.

The memorandum, addressed to the Chief Adviser, stated that the previous government, through authoritarian and fascist measures, had politicized and destroyed the constitution, constitutional institutions, and all state apparatuses. Thousands of opposition leaders and activists were subjected to persecution, lawsuits, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings to suppress patriotic voices.

It further said that people's voting rights were snatched away through "night-time voting." The Jatiya Party and the 14-Party Alliance supported these unlawful activities and took a stand against students and the public during the July-August Uprising. Hence, the public has long been demanding a ban on their activities, the statement said.

The memorandum added that no effective measures have yet been taken to fulfil the people's rightful demands. Therefore, in order to hold elections based on the July National Charter and to rebuild a democratic state, the party has placed a five-point people's demand.

The five demands are-issuance of an executive order to implement the July National Charter and arrangement of a national referendum; introduction of Proportional Representation (PR) in both houses for the upcoming national elections; ensuring a level playing field for all parties to guarantee a free, fair, and credible election; visible trials for all acts of oppression, mass killings, and corruption committed by the fascist government; and banning the activities of the Jatiya Party and the 14-Party Alliance for their collaboration with autocracy.

The statement concluded that implementing these demands would help restore public confidence, bring back political stability, and make it possible to hold a national election in February-transforming the country into a just and accountable democratic state.

Presided over by District Ameer Maulana Moslehuddin and Secretary-General Amjad Hossain, Assistant Secretary Mokbul Hossain, Narsingdi-1 constituency candidate Md Ibrahim Bhuiyan, and Sadar Ameer Mahfuz Bhuiyan, among others, were present.
