One killed in Srimangal road accident

MOULVIBAZAR, Oct 01, 2025 (BSS) - One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a private car and a Noah microbus on Matiganj Lawarkul Bridge in Srimangal upazila of the district early today.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Gafur Sheikh, a resident of the Muslimbagh area of the upazila. 

The two other passengers of the private car - Md. Tanvir Hossain Johnny and Ajay Singh - sustained critical injuries and were referred to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

The accident occurred around 6:00 am, said Md. Aminul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Srimangal Police Station.

Abdul Gafur Sheikh was a cloth merchant by profession and died on the spot following the collision, OC added. 

Upon receiving the information, a team from Srimangal Fire Service rushed to the scene and rescued the injured.
