KHAGRACHARI, March 19, 2026 (BSS) - The Eid market in Khagrachari is buzzing with activity as the final moments of Ramadan approach, with shoppers thronging the town’s main markets and malls, particularly after Iftar, creating a festive atmosphere that continues late into the night.

A visit to the Salim Trade Center and Mini Supermarket in the district town revealed busy aisles filled with families engaged in last-minute shopping. Clothes, cosmetics, and shoe stores are overflowing with eager buyers.

Children’s clothing, women’s sarees, and three-piece outfits are in high demand. Shops such as Monica Cloth Store, Antaran Cloth Store, Liaqat Store, and Family Fashion are witnessing a steady flow of shoppers. Boys’ clothing stores are also crowded, with young buyers purchasing Punjabis, shirts, T-shirts, jeans, pants, and shoes. Many are seeking trendy designs and new arrivals.

Sellers said that sales peak during the final week of Ramadan, and this year has been no exception. Shopkeepers are keeping their stores open late to cater to the growing crowd.

“Many could not shop earlier due to their busy schedules, so the crowd surged just before Eid,” said several buyers, adding that they are buying new clothes for the entire family to celebrate the festival.

Shoppers like Raju, Al Amin, and Imran said, “We came to the market together to buy Punjabis. Prices in branded stores are high, but similar quality clothes are available at lower prices in local market stores.”

Noor Elahi Alif said she purchased shirts, pants, jerseys, and shoes for her family. However, some shoppers expressed concerns about rising prices.

Enamul Haque remarked, “Clothes are in demand, but shopkeepers charge whatever prices they want, making it difficult to shop on a budget.”

Concerns about counterfeit products were also raised. Taslima Akhter Bithi said, “There are more copies than original goods in the market, especially fake three-piece outfits and cosmetic items sold as foreign brands. Shopkeepers are not lowering prices.”

Shop owners, however, expressed optimism. Md. Masud, owner of Day Night Fashion, said, “Sales this year are better than last year. Punjabis, jeans, and T-shirts of both local and foreign brands are in high demand.”

Md. Abu Saleh, owner of A to Z Fashion, said increased demand among girls for Pakistani and Indian trendy three-piece outfits priced between Taka 1,000 and 3,000. Md. Ariful Islam, owner of Family Fashion at Mini Supermarket, said, “Sales continue until 11–12 at night and are expected to increase further in the coming days.”

Overall, the Eid market in Khagrachari is brimming with shoppers and vendors, creating a lively and festive environment as the town prepares to celebrate Eid.
