SHERPUR, Mar 20, 2026 (BSS) - Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in seven villages of Sherpur in line with Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries. 

The Eid congregations were held between 10:00 am and 11:00 am today in these villages.

The villages that celebrated Eid early are: Uttar Charkharchar and Dakshin Charkharchar in Sherpur Sadar upazila; Nanni Paschimpara and Gobindonagar Chhoyani Para in Nalitabari upazila; Charkaiya and Narayankhola in Nakla upazila; and Bangaon Chatol in Jhenaigati upazila.

Talking to the devotees, it was learned that around 150 to 200 devotees participated in each congregation. 

Alongside male devotees, females also offered prayers in the areas designated for them. After the prayers, they took part in feasts.

According to local sources, people in these areas of Sherpur are traditionally observing Eid in line with Saudi Arabia for the past several years.
