CHATTOGRAM, March 27, 2026 (BSS) - Around 6,000 liters of diesel stored in 30 drums were seized during the operation at the city’s Commissioner Ghat area this morning.
Acting on a tip-off, officials from the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and the police collaborated in the operation under the leadership of Executive Magistrate Subrata Halder.

Regarding the operation, Executive Magistrate Subrata Halder said, "Approximately 6,000 liters of oil were recovered during the operation. However, no arrests were made at the scene. A case has been filed at Patenga Model Police Station in connection with this incident.

The recovered fuel oil is currently in police custody. According to initial investigations, a gang was illegally siphoning fuel oil from sea-going ships and oil depots during transportation and selling it locally.

The district administration is taking a firm stance to uphold discipline in the fuel sector and prevent illegal activities. They have also announced that such operations will continue, with increased surveillance on oil depots, petrol pumps, and related sectors.
