
KHULNA, Mar 30, 2026 (BSS)- Khulna City Corporation (KCC) administrator Nazrul Islam Manju has said the city’s sports arena has stressed on revival of sports activities in the city which remained stagnant for long.
“Our Prime Minister has initiated steps to remove the hurdles of the sports sector and restore it to its previous condition. We have to work together to turn this possibility into reality,” he said.
The KCC Administrator said this while speaking as the chief guest at a certificate and award distribution ceremony at the Women’s Sports Complex in the city here today.
The programme was organised by the Bangladesh Karate Federation for trained referees, coaches and athletes from Khulna and Barishal divisions.
He distributed certificates and awards among the participants, wished them success and expressed hope that such arrangement would be held in a larger scale in future.
Emphasising the role of stakeholders, he said those involved in the sports arena must come forward to run and develop the sector.
“We need to utilize the enthusiasm of the youths to make the sports arena dynamic again,” he added saying necessary steps would be taken in coordination with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to address the existing problems in the sector.
The event was presided over by President of Khulna District Sports Association Alimuzzaman Khan.
KCC Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan attended the function as special guest. The programme was conducted by Mohammad Ali, chairman of karate organisation ‘Soto Kan’.
Among others, KCC Administrative Officer Molla Maruf Rashid and people from different levels of the sports arena were present.
Later, the KCC Administrator visited the “Rehabilitation for Extraordinary Children and Neurodiverse Understanding (RENU)” Centre at Sonadanga in the city.
Speaking in an exchange of views meeting there, he termed those working with autistic children as the “true humanitarians” and assured all possible cooperation for the development of the institution.
RENU Chairman Dibendu Dip, social worker Asaduzzaman Murad and local dignitaries were present on the occasion.
