KHULNA, March 30, 2026 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Coast Guard has destroyed a hideout of the notorious pirate group ‘Chhoto Suman Bahini’ in the Sundarbans and seized various items used in criminal activities.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon confirmed the matter today.

He said that acting on a tip-off, Coast Guard personnel learnt that members of the gang were operating near the Simanta Khal area under Mongla Police Station in Bagerhat district.

Based on the information, a special operation was conducted around 6:00 am by Coast Guard Base Mongla and Station Harbaria.

During the operation, law enforcers identified and destroyed a hideout of the gang. They also seized a walkie-talkie set used in robbery, along with daily essentials and other related items.

Sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, the gang members fled into the deep forest, making it impossible to arrest anyone on the spot.

Legal procedures regarding the seized items are underway, he added.

The Coast Guard official further said operations would continue to keep the Sundarbans free from pirates.
