RAJSHAHI, April 1, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered a large quantity of gunpowder and crushed glass abandoned in an operation in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from RAB-5's Rajshahi CPC unit conducted the raid in the Bijoynagar area of the upazila on Tuesday night.

In a press release issued this morning, RAB stated that a white plastic bag and a red shopping bag were found lying abandoned. Upon searching the bags, materials used for making explosives were discovered inside.

The recovered items included 12 kilograms and 580 grams of gunpowder and 2 kilograms and 140 grams of crushed glass.

It is suspected that these materials were kept there with the intention of being used for sabotage.

RAB said that the recovered items were immediately seized and handed over to Godagari Model Police Station under a General Diary (GD) for further legal action.

The agency also added that investigations are ongoing to identify those involved in the incident.
