3 remanded in CKDU Hospital extortion case

DHAKA, April 14, 2026 (BSS)- A Dhaka court today granted a three-day remand to three accused in a case filed over an extortion attempt at the Center for Kidney Diseases and Urology (CKDU) Hospital in the capital's Shyamoli area.

The accused are prime suspects of the case Moin Uddin Moin, Swopon Kazi and Shaon Hossain.

Police produced them before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka and sought a seven-day remand for the proper investigation of the case. 

Following a hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jamshed Alam granted three days' remand for each of them.

The case was filed on April 11 with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station by the hospital's Operation Theatre in-charge Md. Abu Hanif, over a demand for Tk 500,000 in extortion.  

Moin Uddin Moin has been made the prime accused in the case, while seven to eight unidentified individuals have also been named as accused.
