DHAKA, Jan 21, 2025 (BSS) - The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh has found evidence of illegal activities of an unauthorized private university named East Asian University by presenting false information on its website (https://eaub.info/). 

The UGC has appealed to students, guardians and employers not to fall victim to any kind of fraud by believing the false information mentioned on the website.

The commission has taken the initiative to collect information about the university in response to a request from a person to verify the accuracy of a certificate issued by East Asian University.

Information about the university was collected through the website as the university's name was not found in the list of the government-approved private universities. 

The commission formed a two-member inspection team to inspect its activities on the ground which location is East Merul Badda in the capital.

After conducting a site inspection on January 20, the team members submitted a report to the UGC authorities. The report stated that there is no campus of East Asian University in East Merul Badda of the capital.

The website (https://eaub.info/) states that the university is approved by the Bangladesh government, UGC, Pharmacy Council and Bangladesh Bar Council. 

The UGC report stated that the university is operating completely illegally without any approval from the aforementioned institutions.
