DHAKA, March 16 (BSS) - State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam today inaugurated canal excavation work in Faridpur as part of the government's nationwide programme for the excavation and re-excavation of rivers, canals and water bodies.

The excavation work will be carried out from Bolerbag to Sonakhola Bridge in Manikdah Union of Bhanga Upazila, aimed at improving water flow, enhancing irrigation facilities and restoring natural waterways in the area.

The nationwide programme seeks to revive rivers, canals and other water bodies to strengthen water management, boost agricultural productivity and reduce waterlogging in different parts of the country.
