DHAKA, Apr 11, 2026 (BSS) - The High Commission of India in Dhaka has marked ICCR Day celebrating the 77th founding anniversary of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and reaffirming enduring India-Bangladesh cultural ties.

The celebration was held at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in Gulshan on Friday, featuring an art camp and a cultural programme involving ICCR alumni, Bangladeshi artists and students, said a press release issued by Indian High Commission here.

The programme included musical, dance and yoga performances by IGCC students and ICCR scholars, while noted singer and ICCR scholar Priyanka Gope of Dhaka University presented Rabindra Sangeet and classical renditions.

Speaking on the occasion, Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma highlighted the deep-rooted cultural affinity between India and Bangladesh, describing it as a key pillar of bilateral relations.

He underscored the role of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in strengthening cultural exchanges and dialogue, calling it the "cultural heartbeat" of Indian diplomacy that fosters connections beyond borders.

Marking the occasion, the High Commissioner inaugurated a two-day art camp titled "Sampriti", bringing together over 30 eminent Bangladeshi artists and ICCR scholars, including Farida Zaman, Jamal Ahmed, Md Eunus, Nissar Hossain and Ranjit Das.

The artworks created during the camp will be showcased at a two-week exhibition at IGCC, scheduled to open on April 30.

During the event, tribute was also paid to senior Bangladeshi artist and ICCR scholar Tarun Ghosh, who passed away on April 9 after accepting an invitation to participate in the "Sampriti" art camp.
