
DHAKA, April 7, 2026 (BSS) - A high-level delegation from the Environment Committee of the German Parliament (Bundestag) today called on Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo at his office secretariat here.
The minister highlighted the longstanding and cordial relations between Bangladesh and Germany, describing the partnership as a robust, multidimensional collaboration spanning trade, development cooperation and environmental sustainability.
Discussions focused on strengthening technical and financial cooperation to support Bangladesh’s climate and environmental initiatives, an official hand out said.
Key areas of collaboration identified included capacity development, research and knowledge exchange, circular economy, waste management, renewable energy, water recycling, energy efficiency, green cooling, biodiversity conservation and sustainable industrial development.
The minister emphasized ongoing initiatives supported by GIZ and KfW Development Bank, which are enhancing climate resilience and reinforcing environmental governance frameworks.
He reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to deepening engagement with Germany to address emerging climate and environmental challenges.
The meeting also highlighted the Bangladesh Climate Development Partnership (BCDP). Bangladesh sought Germany’s continued support in mobilizing climate finance, accelerating policy reforms, fostering innovative project implementation and facilitating knowledge exchange, including access to carbon markets and carbon credit opportunities.
The German Parliament (Bundestag) delegation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s environmental protection and sustainable development efforts.
Senior Ministry officials, including the Secretary, Additional Secretary attended the meeting alongside German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Rudiger Lotz and other distinguished representatives.
