Two more die of measles

DHAKA, April 06, 2026 (BSS)- Two more people died of measles in the country. 

However, five more are suspected to have died of the disease, according to a press release issued today by the control center of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the release, 1,282 new suspected measles cases were identified across the country and 180 laboratory-confirmed cases were found. 

It said, from March 15 to April 6, the total number of confirmed measles cases was 1,099 and the number of suspected measles cases was 8,534. 

As of March 15, 20 people have confirmed died of measles and 118 people have died of suspected measles. 

During this period, the highest number of suspected measles cases was in Dhaka division; where 3,652 people were infected. Of these, 611 people were confirmed to have measles, it said.

It stated that the total number of recoveries from March 15 to April 6 is 6,016. 

The DGHS is continuously monitoring the situation and is regularly collecting and analyzing information through the integrated control center. 

In addition to ensuring necessary medical care for patients, the people have been advised to remain careful.
