DHAKA, April 6, 2026 (BSS) - Eight hundred litres of illegally hoarded diesel were seized during mobile court drives conducted in different areas of the capital as part of ongoing monitoring of fuel supply and storage.

The drives were conducted today in Agargaon and Mirpur-1 Beribadh areas, said a press release issued by the Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.

During the drive, 50 litres of diesel were recovered from an illegal structure beside the National Museum of Science and Technology, while another 100 litres were seized from two roadside illegal establishments in Goran Chatbari area. As the owners could not be found, the structures were demolished.

The seized 150 litres of diesel were sold at depot price (Taka 96.39 per litre) to a nearby East-West Filling Station-1, generating a total of Taka 14,559. The proceeds will be deposited to the state treasury through proper channels.

In a separate drive in Basabo area, conducted following a report aired by Independent Television titled "Octane Available Even at Tea Stalls," authorities seized another 650 litres of diesel stored for sale at two establishments -- Komol Motors and Faisal Mobil Oil.

The recovered diesel was sold to a nearby HTS Refuelling (Pvt) Limited filling station at depot price, amounting to Taka 62,653. The authorities have directed that the sale proceeds be deposited to the government exchequer.

Besides, the owners of the two institutions were fined Taka 5,000 each, totaling Taka 10,000, which was realized on the spot.
