Parliament to form probe committee over procurement allegations

DHAKA, April 19, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh National Parliament has decided to form a high-level inquiry committee to investigate allegations of irregularities in its procurement activities, following reports published in a national daily and several online portals under the headline "looting in parliamentary purchases."

A press release issued by the Parliament Secretariat today said the allegations regarding procurement activities of the Secretariat have come to the attention of the authorities.

It said the committee will be formed shortly to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter.

The release further stated that no bills related to the concerned procurements will be processed or paid until the committee submits its report.
