DHAKA, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam
Bulbul vowed to improve the facilities of the Narayanganj Fatullah Stadium in
a bid to bring back its old aura.
"More facilities are needed for the players. When I came here, I saw three
wickets. Our plan is to build at least 20 wickets here," Aminul told the
reporters in Narayanganj today.
"In our time, cricket was played at a certain time of the year. Now cricket
is played throughout the year. Along with increasing the facilities for our
players, we will try to increase the coaching facilities."
Aminul hoped to change the face of Fatullah Stadium within the next one and
half years.
"I hope that within the next one and a half years, we will develop
Narayanganj so much so that the players of Narayanganj do not have to go to
Dhaka to play at different levels."
"They will get coaches here. Everything is in our pipeline. Please pray that
I can implement what I am saying today. I am talking about these things with
confidence. Because, I have done these things while I was in the ICC."
Aminul also expressed his desire to build an indoor stadium in Fatullah.
"Cricket is a small part of life. Today, future cricketers are sitting in
front of me. I know there are many potential players here, who will be the
next Tamim or Shakib."
"It's my desire to build an indoor stadium in Narayanganj. Indoor facilities
can keep the players in cricket throughout the year."
After becoming the BCB President, Aminul Islam Bulbul is rushing to different
parts of the country to decentralize cricket. The BCB President was present
as the chief guest at the 'Cricket Development and Ideas' programme organised
by the Narayanganj District Sports Association at the District Sports Complex
in Narayanganj Sadar today.
Before attending this programme in Narayanganj, he visited the Fatullah
Stadium, which hosted several Test matches including a Test against
Australia.
"Narayanganj was an idol for us. Because Narayanganj's cricket history is
quite rich. When I was learning to play cricket myself, I had a good
relationship with Narayanganj. At that time, various leagues were held here."
"I am very happy to see the interest of the people of Narayanganj in cricket.
Before coming here, I went to Fatullah Stadium. I felt crying seeing the
pitiful condition of the stadium. Many national and international matches
were once held here. But the condition of this ground is very pathetic now,"
he said.
