DHAKA, April 21, 2026 (BSS) – The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved four major procurement proposals, including the import of fuel oil and the extension of consultancy services for a critical water supply project.

The approval came from this year's 17th meeting of the CCGP held at Cabinet Division with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

The committee granted approval to a proposal from the Local Government Division regarding the “Dhaka Environmentally Sustainable Water Supply (DESWS)” project.

Under this approval, the international consulting firm Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG (GER) has been appointed for Management, Design & Supervision Consultant (MDSC) services.

The contract, valued at Taka 96.95 crore, will cover a period of 24 months starting from September 2025.

The meeting also approved a proposal of the Ministry of Food for 3 crore Hessian sacks to bolster the nation’s grain storage and distribution infrastructure.

Estimated at a total expenditure of approximately Tk 215.65 crore, the initiative marks a major logistical step by the Directorate General of Food to ensure the integrity of the national food supply chain.

To meet stringent government standards for the transport and preservation of essential commodities, each sack is specified to have a 30 kg capacity. This strategic move is designed to support the large-scale handling of food grains across the country's various storage depots.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Division also received approval for two significant fuel oil import proposals.

The committee approved the emergency procurement of 75,000 metric tons of fuel from Dubai-based DBS TRADING HOUSE FZCO.

The transaction, valued at Taka 1,023.612 crore, was fast-tracked through a direct purchase method to address urgent domestic energy demands against a backdrop of worsening international instability.

Under the approval,  DBS TRADING HOUSE FZCO will supply 50,000 metric tons of diesel and 25,000 metric tons of octane.

A second proposal for 1,00,000 metric tons of diesel was also approved from Archer Energy LLC, with a total expenditure of Taka 674.60 Crore.
