RANGAMATI, Mar 16, 2025 (BSS) - A member of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was killed reportedly in a gunfight between UPDF and Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) here this morning.

The deceased UPDF member identified as Nirmal Chakma, 37.

The incident took place at Khamarpara Taimidung area of Manikchari under Shapchari union of the district.

"Our one activist was killed following an attack by the PCJSS's armed member", said UPDF spokesman Angya Marma, adding "we are deeply condemned and protesting the incident and demanding arrest of the alleged killers."

The UPDF member has been killed during a gunfight between UPDF and PCJSS at Manikchari, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rangamati Kotwali Police Station,M Shahed Uddin Chowdhury. 

Police are on the way now and detailed would be known after recovering the body, said the OC.
