One killed, eight injured in Sirajganj clash

SIRAJGANJ, March 16, 2025 (BSS) - A clash between two groups in Chhoto Saguna village of Belkuchi upazila here in the district left one man dead and eight others injured. 

The violence erupted on Saturday evening over a dispute concerning donations for the development of a mosque in Chhoto Saguna village at Dhukuriabera union.

According to Zakaria Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Belkuchi Police Station, the altercation escalated quickly as both groups became involved in the confrontation, resulting in 8-10 people from both sides suffering injuries. The injured were taken to various hospitals for treatment.

Azahar Ali, 50, who was critically injured in the clash, was transferred to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries this morning.

Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
