CHATTOGRAM, April 16, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) has paid Tk 100 crore to the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) as arrears tax today.

CPA Chairman Rear Admiral SM Muniruzzaman handed over a cheque for Tk 100 crore to CCC Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain at its tiger pass office.

Sources said the conflict between CCC and CPA over municipal taxes has been settled after a long time.

After taking the charge as the mayor of CCC, Dr. Shahadat Hossain took steps to solve the conflicts about the arrears tax with the CPA.

According to CCC, municipal tax worth Tk160 crore annually was fixed in 2017 but CPA had been paying only Tk 45 crore. Due to this, the CCC was not getting Tk 115 crore revenue every year that created conflict between the CCC and CPA.

Mayor Shahadat Hossain took steps to realize the total amount of municipal tax from CPA. Later, he took up the issue to the Ministry of Shipping.

Port Member (Harbor and Marine) Ahmed Amin Abdullah, Secretary Md. Omar Faruk and Chief Revenue Officer Sarwar Kamal, Chief Accounting Officer Humayun Kabir Chowdhury among other were present on the occasion.
