ACC seizes illegal documents, bribe money from Chirirbandar Sub-Registrar Office

DINAJPUR, April 17, 2025 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in a drive today at the Chirirbandar Sub-Registrar Office here recovered some documents of irregularities, corruption and bribery and Taka 35,000 in cash.

The ACC team, led by Dinajpur Integrated District ACC Office Deputy Director Md Ataur Rahman Sarkar, conducted the operation based on complaints. 

Talking to journalists last night, Ataur Rahman said the Dinajpur District Registrar temporarily suspended office assistant Dulal Chandra Roy on charges of receiving bribe money while executing documents.

The ACC said Office Assistant Dulal Roy and Lutfar Rahman were found to have received a bribe of Tk 24,000 and Tk 11,500 in cash. 

At that time, the office assistant of the Upazila Sub-Registry Office Dulal Roy was temporarily suspended from the post of District Registrar and decision was announced to conduct a departmental investigation against another officer Lutfar Rahman.

The ACC office source said that the officers of the Dinajpur Anti-Corruption Office secretly started monitoring the Sub-Registrar's office in this regard 15 days ago. 

Finally, the ACC conducted a 7-hour long drive from 2 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday.
Dinajpur District Registrar Md Sajedul Islam said, "Action will be taken against those involved in corruption, irregularities and bribery as per government rules."

The ACC Deputy Director said, "The information obtained during the drive will be sent to the ACC headquarters along with a report. Legal action will be taken against the accused as per the instructions of the ACC headquarters."

He said with the permission of the ACC headquarters, an enforcement drive was conducted on Wednesday at the Chirirbandar Upazila Sub-Registrar office of the district.
