KHULNA, April 17, 2025 (BSS) - Police rescued an abducted schoolgirl and arrested an abductor at Rupsha upazila here today.
On April 9, an abductor kidnapped a sixth-grade student from the Khan Mohammadpur area under Rupsha upazila, said Additional Superintendent of Police of the District Special Branch Sheikh Imran.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team from the Srifaltala camp under Rupsha police station conducted a drive in the Aichgati Nabopally area under Rupsha upazila on April 16 and arrested alleged abductor Himel Howlader, alias Sohag, 28, on a charge of abducting the minor girl, Imran Sheikh said.
Following his confessional statement, police conducted an operation in the same area and rescued the minor girl from a residence today.
Sohag primarily confessed that he kidnapped the girl on her way to school on April 9 as she refused his love proposal, said Imran Sheikh, adding that a case was filed with Rupsha police station in this connection.
