RAJSHAHI, April 17, 2025 (BSS) - A farmer was killed in a thunderbolt strike at Arani village under Bagha Upazila of the district today. 

The deceased was identified as Manik Hossain Mondal, 45, son of late Abdur Razzaque of Hamidkura village under the same upazila.

Abdul Awal, former ward councilor of Arani Municipality, told BSS that he was struck by lightning while he was sowing maize seeds in his field during a storm around 1:30 pm.
 
Manik succumbed to his injuries on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, he added.
