RAJSHAHI, Aug 5, 2025 (BSS) - July Mass Uprising Day was observed in Rajshahi today with due solemnity and respect, paying tribute to the martyrs and expressing solidarity with the injured.

As part of the observance, the district administration inaugurated the 'July Shaheed Memorial Plaque' at the C&B crossing in the city, commemorating those who laid down their lives during the historic uprising.

Commissioner of Rajshahi Division Khandaker Azim Ahmed, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Muhammad Abu Sufiyan and Deputy Commissioner Afia Akhter, along with family members of the martyrs, placed floral wreaths at the newly unveiled plaque.

A large number of government officials, students, development activists and professionals from cultural and social spheres also paid their respects.

Later, they visited the graves of the martyrs and offered prayers, seeking eternal peace for the departed souls.

To mark the occasion, a children's fine arts competition, documentary screening and a special doa mahfil were held at the Rajshahi Shilpakala Academy.

A memorial meeting was also organized at the same venue, where speakers highlighted the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs and underscored the enduring significance of the anti-discrimination student movement.
