One to die for murder in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Aug 7, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced Arman Ali, 32, to death for hacking to death a retired female employee of the local land office, Anjuman Banu, 70, a resident of South Mulatol area of Rangpur city. 

The court also fined the convict Taka 30,000.

Judge Mashiur Rahman Khan of the Rangpur Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court delivered the verdict in presence of the convict this afternoon. Arman Ali is the son of Ramzan Ali of the Ansari Mour area in Rangpur metropolis.

According to the prosecution, Anjuman Banu was hacked to death at her house in the South Mulatol area of Rangpur city on May 19, 2020.

The next day, the victim's son-in-law, Enayet Hossain Mohan, filed a murder case against unidentified persons with Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali police station.

Following the investigation, police submitted a charge sheet against him.
