Shariful, Majharul re-elected as president, general secretary of Kishoreganj BNP

KISHOREGANJ, Sept 21, 2025 (BSS) – Md. Shariful Alam and Mazharul Islam have been re-elected president and general secretary of Kishoreganj District Unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) respectively.
 
The district BNP council was held yesterday at Old Stadium in the district town after nine years.

BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman joined the programme virtually as the chief guest.  BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir inaugurated the council.

  
National Executive Committee Joint Secretary General Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel announced the results after counting the votes around 10.30 pm on Saturday.


Shariful Alam won by a huge margin by getting 1,522 votes for the president post while his nearest rival Ruhul Hossain got 197 votes.   As many as 120 votes were rejected.
 

On the other hand, Mazharul Islam got 1,159 votes for the general secretary post while his nearest rival Khaled Saifullah Sohel got 611 votes.
 

A total of 2,090 councilors from 13 upazilas and 8 municipal committees cast their votes at the election. 


Chief Election Commissioner and convener of the District Nationalist Lawyers Forum, Advocate Mizanur Rahman, confirmed the election results.
