KHULNA, Oct 1, 2025 (BSS) - The families of six government employees in Khulna received Tk 40 lakh in financial assistance under the Financial Aid Policy 2020 (Revised) for deceased and permanently disabled civil servants.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar handed over the cheques at his office today, following the approval of the Divisional Verification and Recommendation Committee.

Of the total assistance, Tk 32 lakh was distributed among the families of four deceased government employees, with each family receiving Tk 8 lakh.

The remaining Tk 8 lakh provided to the families of two employees who were compelled to retire due to permanent disability, with each family receiving Tk 4 lakh.

The policy, introduced in 2020, ensures financial protection for families of government employees who die in service or retire prematurely because of permanent disability caused by workplace accidents or severe illness.

Senior officials of the Divisional Commissioner's office attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Sarkar reaffirmed that the government is firmly committed to standing beside its employees and their families during times of crisis.

The initiative is part of a wider welfare programme of the Ministry of Public Administration aimed at helping civil servants' families overcome financial hardship after losing their main breadwinners.
