Poet conference to be held on Nov 28-29 in Bogura

BOGRA, Nov 15, 2025 (BSS) - The much-awaited poet conference hosted by the Bogura Writers' Circle will be held on November 28-29. 

At a press conference held on Saturday at the Bogura Press Club auditorium, the president of the organization, Poet Islam Rafiq, shared details about the upcoming event. 

At this year’s poet conference, six distinguished individuals will be recognized for their outstanding contributions to literature and culture.

The awardees include - Masuder Rahman for poetry, Anif Rubed for fiction, Saikat Habib for essay literature, Jamshed Wazed (editor of 'Jolchhobi') for little magazine editing, Matiul Islam Sadi for journalism, and Hasnat Amjad for children's literature. 

The two-day conference will be held on November 28-29, 2025, at the Bogra Zila Parishad Auditorium, with over two hundred poets, writers, and little magazine workers from across Bangladesh expected to participate.

Addressing the press, Poet Islam Rafiq emphasized that the Bogra Writers' Circle has been a cornerstone of Bangladesh's literary community for 37 years, proudly carrying the slogan "Culture is the people's wealth."

This year's poet conference is organized in conjunction with the organization’s founding anniversary, a tradition that continues to foster creative exchange and celebrate literary achievement.

The event will be inaugurated on November 28 at 10 am by the President of the Bogura District BNP, Rezaul Karim Badsha. 

Vice-Chancellor of Naogaon University Professor Dr. Mohammad Hasanat Ali, will attend as the chief guest. On the second day, renowned poet and Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Rezauddin Stalin will join as the chief guest to give the prestigious awards.

Since its establishment in 1989, the Bogura Lekhak Chakra Puraskar has been awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to literature and culture. This year, the six recipients will be presented with a crest, certificate, and citation by Rezauddin Stalin on November 29, 2025, at 12 noon.

Poet Islam Rafiq also sought the cooperation of local authorities, journalists, and well-wishers to help ensure the success of this significant cultural event.
