KHULNA, Apr 7, 2026 (BSS) - Administrator of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Nazrul Islam Manju today stressed long-term planning to ensure sustainable urban development in the city.

He said development activities are being implemented in a planned manner so that city dwellers can fully enjoy the benefits of completed projects.

The KCC administrator made the remarks while exchanging views with journalists and local residents during a visit to ongoing beautification works at No. 7 Ghat area in the city this morning.

Highlighting the shortage of quality amusement facilities, including a botanical garden and playgrounds in Khulna, he said many government lands in the city have long remained unused.

“Initiatives will be taken to utilize the fellow lands to build modern and environment friendly recreational centres,” he said, adding that a proposal would soon be sent to the Prime Minister in this regard.

Earlier, development and beautification works were implemented in the No. 7 Ghat area with financial assistance from the German government.

A seven-member parliamentary delegation from Germany and the German Ambassador are scheduled to visit Khulna on April 9.

During the visit, they will inspect various development projects implemented with German funding.

Ahead of the visit, the KCC administrator today inspected the project areas to review overall preparations.
He examined the current condition, cleanliness, infrastructure maintenance and progress of beautification works, and gave necessary instructions.

After the inspection, he also visited Rupsha Ghat and the adjacent pontoon and gangway, directing officials to further improve safety and management of the facilities.

KCC officials and local stakeholders expressed hope that implementation of the planned initiatives would enhance civic services and create modern recreational opportunities for city residents.
